About Me

SWF looking for...  oh wait, wrong place :)

Thanks for visiting Tri to Cook!   I'm Shannon, the voice behind the blog.  Started in 2008 when I was excited about two new things in my life, cooking and triathlon, Tri to Cook chronicles my adventures in racing and in the kitchen.

Cooking and training keep me sane, my day job is currently as a Scientist in Boston.    Blogging has facilitated lots of learning, whether it be about new-to-me foods, cooking techniques, food pairings or photography, to name a few.

I'm not one to attach labels to my eating habits, but I enjoy fresh, seasonal foods, eat less meat than I used to, and have become more conscious of where my food comes from.   The days of picky-ness, fat-free foods and hamburger helper are long gone!    Healthy fats, whole grains, and vegetables are welcomed with open arms :)

I love to cook and bake for my family and friends, and take a special interest in creating healthier meals that everyone enjoys.   Check out the Recipes page for more inspiration!

In addition to eating, I also love to be outside...  whether it be hiking, camping, or swimming, biking or running :)  I'm also a dog-lover, and can sometimes be found at the dog park while dogsitting for friends!   For more about how I got into triathlon and race recaps, check out the Tri page.
