I'm (supposed to be) working on a presentation for work so I haven't spent much time in the kitchen (except to roast the butternut squash I ate for dinner... ), but I can point you to two good recipes! I mentioned that I had the best brussels sprouts EVER at the Foodbuzz Festival. Well, Chef Dennis Lee was gracious enough to share the recipe!! You can find it here, or check out an awesome step-by-step version at We Are Not Martha. I didn't find all of the appropriate ingredients, but I came close ;) Still a winner, and worth checking out your local markets!
The second was a breakfast cake I made while my parents were in town, flavored by the last of my Coconut Chai tea. Smelled great in the oven, and I think they enjoyed it as part of their breakfast! (edited to add: Mom and Dad added their thoughts in the comments below!) You can find the recipe here.
I'm going to mix it up a bit in the upcoming weeks, to talk a little bit about these. Stay tuned!
both recipes look good.
ReplyDeletegood luck with your presentation! :)
That breakfast cake looks amazing! I am going to try that out for sure!!
ReplyDeleteGOODLUCK on your presentation girl!
nice shoes!
ReplyDeleteHa, I thought you ate brussels sprouts FOR breakfast. I love brussels sprouts and all but that would be a bit much. lol
ReplyDeleteI need to try that recipe. I remember everyone raving about it and I'm sure Adam and I would both love it (I mean there is bacon involved, I'm pretty sure I can serve anything with bacon and Adam would ask for seconds).
Let's see if your rents chime in. Maybe we'll take their silence as agreement. Mine would write me an email and tell me to write something on their behalf. Ha!
ooh! Like Elina I thought you were eating brussels sprouts for breakfast :) I am obsessed with coconut chai tea. The cake sounds delicious!
ReplyDeletethe breakfast cakes we're awesome...repeat after me "take just one, take just one" so that other could enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteShannons Dad
I totally agree!!!! Those were the BEST Brussels sprouts ever. Just curious, did you find guanciale? That's the one ingredient I'm not sure if I could find easily.
ReplyDeleteWeather is getting nice! Time to start running. :)
Mom's finally chiming in here, the breakfast cakes were very tasty and I'll be making them to enjoy again! The moistness gave them some heft so you felt like you were eating something substantial which helped in eating just one....or maybe one and half :) Love the flavor of the coconut and chai making this another winner in my book. It's great being "guinea pigs" for new recipes and recipients of all Shannon's goodies. We're definitely enjoying her cooking talents!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely let me know how you like the Newtons.
ReplyDeleteI've been obsessed with brussels lately so thanks for this recipe! If you say it's the best ever you know I'm going to have to try it!
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of the breakfast cake - coconut and chai - how can you go wrong.

ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to check out that brussels recipe. I've been learning to like them this year, and if the recipe is really to die for, I think I need to try it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try the Brussels sprouts!! And the breakfast cake sounds so tasty - I love all things Chai.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the link to the breakfast cake with me on FB! As soon as I can get to the store for some applesauce, I'm making this. I love anything "Chai". I've "pinned" it to try soon!
