A crazy weekend in Philly that included 12hrs on the train left me with a nasty cold that is ever-so-slowly getting better. While I did some cooking, I couldn't taste it until this weekend :/ I've been meaning to give a shoutout to Foodbuzz's Tastemaker program, through which I recieved some Emeril goodies to try out. I used the organic Vegetable stock when I made Kalyn's Autumn Harvest Soup this past week. As I normally use chicken stock, I was very impressed with the flavor of the stock and would definitely use it again if the price was right! I don't know if it was my particular spices, but I felt like the soup could've used a bit more. That also might have been my taste buds ;) This was also a delight to eat texture-wise as it combined kale, butternut, and farro! Not quite chicken soup, I think it had enough nutritional goodness to help fight my cold ;)

Love Emeril :)
I'll be apple-picking this fall, for sure! Family tradition.
Apple picking sounds fun! I missed blueberry and strawberries this year, and I guess I can make it up in apples.
I'm trying to plan apple picking...
I got Emeril's stuff but I wasn't really a fan of the spice combos. I haven't tried the broth yet.
yup I went 2 saturdays ago to pick apples for an apple crisp
The soup looks delicious. Feel better!!! Can't wait for apple picking this weekend :)
Yo, totally go for the apple cider dounut making. I think it's your duty as a NE cat. Just make sure to wait before you go running again :)
And Emeril's fish rub is really good. I used that alot back in college, nice and citrusy.
You just reminded me I still need to do a post about my Emeril's stuff.
I would totally try to meet up to go apple picking if I didn't have plans to go next weekend already. I think I would have apple overload. :)
And definitely try the apple cider doughnuts. The ones I made were amazing! But they need to be eaten the day you make them -- they're not as good the next day.
Soup looks good and kale, squash and the taste of fall in one bowl is awesome. I got 2 loaves of bread from Food Buzz. The mustard woulda been nice :) And I'm gonna stay on the Z people regarding that tshirt now that you say it's super soft LOL
Your autumn soup sounds so good. Let me know if you figure out the secret to giving it that extra something somethin'. :-)
I wish I lived in Boston...would LOVE to go apple picking right about now!
I would love to do a little apple picking! hmmm... maybe this weekend;).
And that soup looks delicious!!
Oh man! I want my hand on cider donuts, too! Never had them before! I wish I could join you.
Yay for Emeril! I've never tried his spice, but I love it when he sprinkles it and goes, "BAM!" :D
I love apple picking and am trying to recruit my friends to go but it may have to wait until after the marathon. The last time I went was in Boston - SO MUCH FUN. It brought back so many memories from my childhood. I second the apple cider donuts idea. If you wanted we could "cook them together"!
I'm sorry about your cold! Traveling somehow always makes me slightly ill. Don't know why.
That soup looks delicious. Perfect for this fall weather we are having! All of the best aspects of fall.
I just tried Emeril's beef stock for my beef stew and it was really good! A bit more expensive than generic, but I think worth it.
Hope you feel better!
Glad you're feeling a bit better. That harvest soup looks so good. I am so getting into soups right now (despite the 80 degree temps down here hehe). SO jealous of the trip to Smolak - I love that place
The soup looks good...
The soup looks delicious! I don't know about apple-picking but I've been apple cooking! Apples are incredibly cheap and local right now.
I love that you're thinking of making apple cider donuts. I missed out on that Tastemaker promo so I'll be excited about your reviews.
Autumn harvest soup sounds excellent! I didn't go apple picking this season but my mom did and she brought me a whole bunch of apples which we are still eating :)
I had no idea that Emeril had his own line out! I'll need to look for them next time I'm State-side.
Aww...feel better soon. It sucks to be sick! : P
Such a perfect soup for the season.
i can't wait to go apple picking! it's a little farther to drive in los angeles, but it exists!
So cool girl! Apple picking is like, getting bk to nature! Right?! Rob loves Emeril stuff for grilling :)
BAM! Haha...
I was visiting my sister in the Boston area last weekend and we had plans to go apple picking but it was nasty on Sunday! Boo on that. :(
Oh! What a nice soup, great indeed for the weather that is arriving :-)
Ugh, I caught a cold traveling too and now just want to crawl into bed.
I need a bowl of this lovely soup, it looks delicous!
Emeril cracks me up!
i hope to do some apple picking! but if I can't, I get some great ones from our farmer's market.
